Japanese Flash Card Generator

Genre: Study Tool
For: School

I created the flashcard generator so that I could use my phone for flashcards and so that I didn't have to manually create them.  The japanese vocabulary is from the japanese courses offered at Georgia Tech. and the deck uses the provided excel japanese vocabulary file from the t-square website.

It's pretty simple to use, just select the chapters that you won't to appear as flashcards and then drag the boxes around to front and back column.  The items column will not appear on the cards so if there's something you don't want to show up, place it there.  Once you have it arranged just press the Generate Flashcards button. This creates a semi-colon seperated list with your layout.

A quick note about using Kanji on the front of the card.  Not every word in the provided excel vocabulary document had a kanji version.  I designed it so that If a word doesn't have a kanji translation, the kanji spot on the front of the card will be filled with the hiragna or katakana representation instead.  If this happens and you also put hiragana/katakana on the back, it will no longer show up on the back.

Once you have the comma seperated list, you can use several sites to build your flashcard database: http://www.flashcardexchange.com, http://www.quizlet.com, or http://www.studystack.com . Just create a new deck and then import the cards by copying and pasting in the correct spot and setting the delimenator to comma.  All of these sites also allow you to study the cards online as well but some have more features.

To study the cards on your phone, install an app that supports the database created by the above sites (I recommend anymemo for android).  You can either download the deck on your computer and transfer it over to your computer, or anymemo actually will let you download your own decks, along with all other public decks on the site.

If you have any questions, feedback, find missing or incorrect words, or ideas to make the generator better feel free to get in touch with me.
